Hi,
When I try to run Freecell, Hearts, Mahjong, Minesweeper, Purble Place, Solitaire and Spider Solitaire, I just get a black screen. The headers for the windows say "<gamename> - Loading Resources", then that changes to just "<gamename>" but the window remains black. Only Chess Titans and Inkball run for some reason.
I was wondering what resources it is that the first set of games require? That way I can try and diagnose my problem. I'm running an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro with the beta Vista Catalyst drivers from their site. Everything else seems fine... just these games...!

I've got a similar problem here, I'm running a 9800 pro with the Catalyst Vista drivers, it is not black though, the text doesn't show up on the icons and the mouse overs are messed up. I can read the tips text but not the menus, etc. it's all garbled where the buttons are supposed to be.
I have the same problems as you. I'm using a ATI Radeon X700 Pro with the Catalyst 6.6 Vista beta drivers. I didn't try the games before I installed the drivers, so I don't know if it might be a problem with those. As far as I know, everything else works fine on here.

I could write "ditto" on your post, except I did not install the "ATI Control Panel". The solution that worked for me was to roll back the ATI beta driver to the original Public Beta 2 ATI WDM driver. The games now work fine! -- EMS_Logician
